PULSE Contemporary Art Fair is to exhibit a walk-in sculpture created by Iranian-American artist David M. Abir, in Miami, US.
Tekrar Level Four, to go on display from Dec. 3 to 6, 2009, will present a walk-in sculpture which combines collaged classical music and defused light, Artdaily reported.
Tekrar is a Persian word meaning repetition and the work suggests the artist's endless process of collage and manipulation as well as the repetitive nature of meditation and life cycles.
Tekrar Level Four emulates the anatomical structure of the human ear, providing a sound pattern with a combination of musical phrases, played in continuous variations and repeated at random.
The juxtaposition of arbitrary sounds with subtle lighting changes creates an extraordinary multi-sensorial experience.
The first iteration of Abir's Tekrar was commissioned in 2005 for a San Sebastian group show. The sculpture was then refined to be displayed at the 2007 Aldridge Museum of Contemporary Art.
Abir has also created music and sound installations in collaboration with artists such as Doug Aitken, Alfredo Jaar and Shahzia Sikandir.
