Israeli troops have fired tear gas, rubber-coated bullets, and live ammunition at an anti-apartheid wall rally, injuring several Palestinians in the West Bank village of Nil'in.

In retaliation, the Palestinian protesters, including international activists, threw stones at Israeli soldiers, some of whom sustained minor injuries, the Nil'in Youth Center said in a statement released on Saturday.

The statement added that a protester threw a Molotov cocktail toward five military jeeps that crossed the apartheid wall and entered the village.

Following the Israeli attack, two wounded children were transferred to a hospital, demonstrators said. At least three other Palestinians were also hurt, but the nature of their injuries was not immediately clear.

The Israeli military spokeswoman denied that soldiers used live fire.
