US President Barack Obama seeks to reduce America's greenhouse gas emissions by a 'low' 17 percent before 2020, ahead of a climate summit in Denmark.

Obama's pledge to cut CO2 levels comes in advance of the December climate change convention in Copenhagen, meant to decrease human's contribution to 'catastrophic' air pollution.

In a Wednesday statement by the White House, Obama's latest decision on atmospheric condition has been deemed as "a sign of his continuing commitment and leadership to find a global solution to the global threat of climate change."

Yet, the US administration recipe for climate change falls far below the expectations of environmentalists and the European Union's demand, which requires the developed nations to cut between 25 to 40 percent in the same time span.

Obama's CO2 reduction plan falls even below America's previous 'reduction' bid during the former President Bill Clinton's tenure.

Scientists have warned against growing woes of the greenhouse effects urging world leaders to take 'immediate' action at the climate conference on December 9, before the world passes the 'point of no return' on air pollution.
