Germany's 2009 edition of Up and Coming International Film Festival has awarded young Iranian filmmaker Mehdi Jafari.

Jafari's 3-minute Father Gave Water received the festival's Young Film Makers Award along with China's Day in a Life and Switzerland's Moon Children.

Films of the festival's international competition section were judged by Valerie Saunders (Norway), Gabrielle Kelly (US) and Alexandro Rodriguez (Mexico).

The 10th edition of the festival was held from Nov. 19 to 22 in Hannover, screening 107 films from 34 countries.

The Up and Coming film festival is an international competition for young filmmakers, which is held every two years, hosting young directors up to the age of 27.
