Indonesia to review Kiarostami's filmography

Iranian prominent director Abbas Kiarostami
Indonesia is playing host to a three-day workshop on the films, photography and poetry of the acclaimed Iranian director, Abbas Kiarostami.

The multi-talented Iranian director, who is a filmmaker, painter, designer and photographer, has received many prestigious international awards, including the 1997 Cannes 'Golden Palm' award and the 2008 'Glory to the Filmmaker' award of the Venice Film Festival.

Kiarostami is also a master of the theater. He has staged Mozart's comic opera, 'Cosi Fan Tutte' at London's Coliseum Theater and the 2008 'Festival of Lyric Art' in Aix-en-Provence, France.

Bangladesh's Moviyana Film Society has organized the workshop on Kiarostami's life and films beginning December 24.

The prominent Bangladeshi filmmaker, Tareque Masud, will be directing the workshop to discuss and appreciate the Iranian filmmaker's movies, photography and poetry.

Tareque Masud is an award-winning Bangladeshi independent filmmaker, who is best known for directing the critically acclaimed films 'Muktir Gaan' (1995) and 'Matir Moina' (2002).

Masud won the International Critics' Prize and FIPRESCI Prize for Directors' Fortnight at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival for directing Matir Moina.
