It is a wrong perception to believe that the United States wants to establish friendly ties with Iran, an Iranian lawmaker says.

"Iran has always said that it has never pursued a diplomacy that aimed to cut ties with the US forever," IRNA quoted Majlis (Parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Rapporteur Kazem Jalali as saying on Sunday.

The MP stated that there has been no major change in US diplomacy vis-à-vis Iran since US President Barack Obama took office last year.

"It is a lie that Washington wants to negotiate with Iran in order to establish cordial relations with the country. If that was true, the US would have provided Iran with fuel for its nuclear reactor before it sent Iran's (nuclear) dossier to the UN Security Council," Jalali said.
