Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has held a phone conversation with the IAEA Chief Mohamed ElBaradei to discuss Iran's nuclear program.
Turkish Foreign Ministry Spokesman Burak Ozugergin said on Thursday that Davutoglu had briefed ElBaradei on his recent talks with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, Turkey's Zaman newspaper reported.
Last week, Ahmadinejad attended an economic summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in Istanbul and held talks with Turkey's Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
ElBaradei had proposed Turkey as a third-country destination after Iran did not agree to a Western suggestion that its enriched uranium be sent to Russia for further enrichment to reactor-grade fuel.
"This proposal which was made by the Chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) a long time ago was rejected by Iranian authorities," a well-informed source had told ISNA on Sunday.
