Russian Ambassador to Iran Alexander Sadovnikov says Moscow will continue to adhere to its nuclear commitments to the Islamic Republic.
"Any rumor about Russia's refusal to fulfill its commitments to Iran is not true," Sadovnikov said in a meeting with the Head of Iran's Majlis (Parliament) Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, Alaeddin Boroujerdi on Wednesday.
The Russian envoy voiced Moscow's willingness to further enhance ties with Iran in different fields.
He also submitted Boroujerdi an invitation from Duma's Foreign Relations Committee to visit Russia.
"Russia considers the Islamic Republic of Iran an important country in the regional and international arenas and is determined to enhance its ties with it," IRNA quoted Sadovnikov as saying.
"Iran has an undeniable right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, just like any other signatory to NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) and Russia supports this right," the Russian ambassador added.
Boroujerdi, for his turn, highlighted the importance of strategic ties between the two countries.
