A British man has sent a photo of himself to the media to replace the mugshot printed of him as a house burglary wanted.

The 23-year-old Matthew Maynard sent the South Wales Evening Post a photo showing him standing in front of a police van, Reuters reported.

Maynard, who was on the run from police sent the picture because he disliked the one that had been printed of him as part of a crackdown on crime in Swansea.

South Wales Police thanked him for his help, saying, "Everyone in Swansea will know what he looks like now."
