Shahram Nazeri and his son, Hafez
Veteran Iranian vocalist Shahram Nazri and his son Hafez are planning to perform their peace symphony at New York City's Carnegie Hall.

Accompanied by classical musicians of the Chamber Music Society of the Lincoln Center, the Nazeris' Rumi (Mowlavi) Symphony aims to bind Iran and the US through an enchanting combination of the traditional Persian music and western tunes.

"We're hearing all about nuclear weapons and all these crazy things," AP quoted the 30-year-old Hafez Nazeri as saying.

"Look at us, people who come together from different cultures, different musical backgrounds and we all create love together, for you, for the world.”

Shahram Nazeri will perform Cycle One: Rites of Fall to fusion music mixing the violin and the traditional percussion instrument of Daf.

The 69-year-old artist has received the French Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres Medal in 2007 for promoting traditional Persian music.

He has also been granted Asia Society's prestigious Lifetime Cultural Heritage Award.

The Rumi Symphony project premiered last month in Los Angeles where the performance earned standing ovations from the audience.
