US to send huge arms pack to Georgia: Russia

The United States is to provide Georgia with up to 100 million dollars worth of weapons, Russian security services have found.
The package would include a sophisticated air defense system and small arms and ammunitions among other things.
According to Russia's General Staff chief, Aleksandr Shlyakhturov, the elusive offer was made by a private arms manufacturer in Chicago after Tbilisi asked Washington for its military assistance.
Shlyakhturov also accused Georgia of "still receiving military assistance from NATO members, Israel and Ukraine," a year after the five-day war, fought by Russia and Georgia over the breakaway region of South Ossetia.
He added that NATO countries mainly supply Georgia with small arms and ammunition, while the US leads training, Israel provides it with unmanned aircrafts and Ukraine with tanks and air defense systems.
Tensions between Moscow and Tbilisi remain high after last year's August war, with Russia repeatedly calling for an arms embargo on all deals with Tbilisi.
For the past few months, Russia has faced mounting violence throughout its volatile North Caucasus region, as militants wage a low-level insurgency against the Moscow-backed local authorities.
The Kremlin has long charged that the violence is fuelled by foreign funding, while accusing Georgia of harboring rebel fighters.
