Two American pilots have been killed in a helicopter crash in Salahuddin Province in northern Iraq, the US military has announced.

The pilots were killed during a "hard landing" on Sunday, the military said in a statement.

The military statement, which was released on Monday, did not reveal any further details about the crash.

The incident is under investigation, the statement said.
