Iran says more than 100 anti-government protestors were arrested for disturbing public order during rallies marking the 30th anniversary of the US Embassy takeover.

Speaking to IRNA on Saturday, Tehran police Chief Azizollah Rajabzadeh said, "Police arrested 109 people who disturbed public order and security on the sideline of the rally on November 4."

Rajabzadeh said after conducting due investigations, 47 of the detainees were released and 62 others including 43 men and 19 women were jailed.

Meanwhile, Tehran Prosecutor Abbas Jafari-Dolatabadi confirmed the arrest of several foreign reporters who were covering demonstrations in Tehran on Nov. 4.

He, however, said two Germans and one Canadian journalist who were arrested on Wednesday had been released.

Jafari-Dolatabadi also confirmed the arrests of a Danish journalism student, saying his case is being reviewed by the judiciary.
