TThe International Criminal Court prosecutor, Luis Moreno-Ocampo, claims that he has a strong case against the masterminds of Kenya's post-election violence.

Speaking at a news conference in Kenyan capital Nairobi, Moreno-Ocampo said that the findings of different international-backed reports detailing the facts behind the violence, which claimed the lives of more than 1,300 Kenyans, is a clear guide on how to go about in prosecuting the masterminds.

The ICC has already received a secret envelope containing names of prominent politicians, including cabinet ministers and sitting lawmakers, as well as businessmen and local politicians who are accused of perpetrating violence.

Ethnic clashes after a disputed presidential election killed at least 1,300 people and displaced more than 300,000 people.

On Thursday, Luis Moreno-Ocampo met President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga and told them he would request the green light for an investigation in December from the ICC's pre-trial judges, a Press TV correspondent reported.

Kenya, like many other countries is signatory to the 2002 Rome Treaty that established the ICC, the world's first permanent court set up to try individuals for genocide, war crimes and other major human rights violations.
