Iranian Foreign Minister has discussed the latest regional developments in a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Walid Muallem.
The Wednesday sit-down came after Muallem arrived in Tehran for a two-day visit, which will include high-ranking talks on a wide range of issues, spanning from developments in Iraq and Lebanon to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Mindful of the recent wave of terrorist attacks in the region, Mottaki said improved relations between Iran and its Arab neighboring states would be in the best interests of regional countries.
"We believe that the entire region would benefit from a close bond between Iran and the Arab governments, including those in Damascus and in Ryhad," said Mottaki.
Muallem, for his part, said Iran and Syria should work together to secure peace and stability in the Middle East, and particularly in Lebanon.
"Iran and Syria's close cooperation in promoting Mideast security and a National Unity government in Lebanon has been positive for the whole region," he said.
