Five new confirmed cases of swine flu have been reported in Tehran, bringing the total number of the cases of students affected by swine flu in Tehran to 17.
Tehran Education Organization's head of pubic relations reported the figure on Sunday while expressing concern over the issue.
“The increasing number of students in state schools is alarming for Tehran authorities working to take effective measures in controlling the virus's spread,” ISNA quoted Ali Soleimani.
Soleimani believes the severity of the symptoms is more typical of seasonal flu.
"However, even with a mild flu, we need to remain vigilant to prevent illness and watch for infections," he cautioned.
The H1N1 influenza virus, which originated in Mexico, can be prevented by maintaining strength in one's immune system by making healthy food choices, drinking enough water, and washing hands several times during the day.
