A militant attack on a girls' high school in northwestern Pakistan has destroyed the school's building and wounded at least four people.

Two explosions ripped through the 18-room high school for girls at Kari Gar village in the Khyber region.

"Militants have blown up the school with two blasts and all rooms were demolished," administration official Shafeer Ullah told AFP on Sunday.

"Four people in neighboring houses were also wounded and their homes slightly damaged," he added.

Wahhabi-minded militants have destroyed hundreds of schools, mostly for girls, in the northwest of the country in recent years.
