While a new wave of swine flu has hit Mexico for the second time, US officials say the first swine flu vaccine will be available on Oct. 5.
Latest figures have revealed that more than 300,000 cases of H1N1 have been confirmed across the globe, adding that the virus has claimed the lives of some 3,900 individuals worldwide.
Officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention believe 26 states are swarming with the virus, which has resulted in more than 600 deaths and the hospitalization of 9,000 others.
The next wave of A/H1N1 flu is believed to be larger than the one last spring, which became a pandemic as the number of patients tested positive for the virus topped the number in the H1N1 peak in April.
US officials stressed that the new vaccine, which would be directly shipped to doctors, clinics and other providers by Oct 5, would be enough to protect some 6 to 7 million people.
The government expects to have a total of 250 million doses of the new vaccine, which 10 percent of it has already been promised to other countries.
Mexican officials reported on Friday that some 29,417 confirmed cases including 226 deaths have been identified in the country, adding that some 483 cases have been detected in the past month alone.
Officials are adopting necessary measures to contain the virus; they, however, said that the large-scale closure of schools and stadiums are unnecessary as the virus would be mild if treated early.
