Translator Abdolhossein Sharifian dies at 83

Veteran Iranian writer and translator Abdolhossein Sharifian has died at the age of 83 at Kasra Hospital in the capital city of Tehran.
Sharifian passed away Monday morning after being taken to hospital for respiratory problems one week earlier.
According to ISNA, Sharifian translated about 50 books and wrote a number of short stories.
Donna Rosenberg's World Mythology, Andre Gide's Isabelle, Pastoral Symphony and Vatican Cellars, John Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath, and Herbert George Wells' Country of the Blind and Time Machine are among Sharifian's translations.
