Germany's foreign intelligence agency BND has denied a German magazine report which had said Iran was capable of producing an atomic bomb within six months.

German weekly Stern cited BND experts as saying that Iran had the enrichment technology to make a bomb and had enough centrifuges to make weaponized uranium, Reuters reported.

A BND spokesman said the article did not reflect the view of the agency; however, he claimed that Iran would be capable of producing an atomic bomb in 'several years'.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has repeatedly announced that it has found no diversion in Iran's nuclear program -- a point also made by the agency's incoming chief Yukiya Amano.

This is while the US, Israel and their European allies accuse Iran of developing nuclear weapons.

Iran has repeatedly denied the allegations, saying its activities are in line with its obligations under the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), to which it is a signatory, and are aimed at the civilian applications of the technology.
