Iran’s freestyle wrestling team crowned at 2024 Asian Championships

The Iranian men’s national freestyle wrestling team has won the title of the 2024 Asian Championships in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The Iranian athletes became champions after bagging five gold and three bronze medals.

The gold medalists for Iran were Rahman Amouzad in the 65kg category, Amir-Mohammad Yazdani in the 70kg category, Mohammad Nokhodi in the 79kg category, Amir-Hossein Firouzpour in the 92kg category, and Amir-Hossein Zare in the 125kg category.

Meanwhile, Hossein Abuzari (74 kg), Hadi Vafaipour (86 kg), and Mohammad-Hossein Mohammadian (97 kg) won three bronze medals.

The performance of the team resulted in Iran accumulating a total of 190 points. Japan and Kyrgyzstan trailed behind, securing second and third places with 130 and 121 points, respectively.

The 2024 edition of the competition, which saw participation from 23 countries, commenced with freestyle competitions on Thursday. The event is set to conclude on Tuesday with the end of the Greco-Roman competitions.
