Iranian Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei condemned the terrorist attack that targeted a police post in the southeast of Iran, vowing to bring attackers to justice.

The police headquarters in Rask County, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, was attacked by a number of terrorist groups at around 2 AM local time on Friday.

According to official reports, 11 police forces were killed in the terrorist attack and seven more were wounded, some in critical condition.

In a message on Friday, Mohseni-Ejei expressed condolences to the Iranian nation and the families of the martyrs.

"Enemies of Islamic Iran, who are shocked and enraged by the authority of our establishment, have once again used their mercenaries in terrorist groups to spill the blood of a number of border police soldiers who were engaged in providing security and peace to the people," he said.

He further urged the judiciary officials of the province to adopt all necessary measures for arresting and bringing to justice these "terrorists that are linked with global imperialism."

Meanwhile, Head of Sistan and Baluchestan Police 2nd Brigadier General Dustali Jalilian said that the security forces will "firmly" respond to the "cowardly" terror attack, making terrorists "regret" their attack.

The so-called Jaish-ul-Adl terror group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Majid Mirahmadi, the deputy interior minister for security and police affairs, said the terrorists attacked the police post from several directions and later ambushed reinforcements deployed to the location.

He said two of the terrorists were killed and one of them was injured and arrested in hours-long clashes, while the rest escaped.

The region is sealed off and the search for the perpetrators is underway, added the official.

Iranian police forces have flown helicopters over the region to hunt down the terrorists.
