Prince Andrew sued in US by alleged Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre

Prince Andrew is being sued at a US court by a woman who alleges he sexually assaulted her when she was aged only 17.

Virginia Giuffre, who is an alleged victim of convicted American pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, claims she was trafficked to the UK for the sexual gratification of the Duke of York.

Giuffre, who has filed her lawsuit at a federal court in Manhattan, also claims the Duke of York sexually assaulted her in New York at a mansion owned by Epstein.

According to Giuffre, the alleged sexual assault in London occurred at the private residence of a key Epstein associate, the British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell.

Epstein committed suicide in prison in August 2019 before his scheduled trial on sex trafficking charges.

Meanwhile, Maxwell, who is the daughter of the late disgraced media tycoon Robert Maxwell, is due to stand trial in November on charges of enticing minors and sex trafficking of underage girls.

Prince Andrew is not facing criminal charges as Giuffre’s legal action constitutes a civil case filed by a private party for monetary damages.

The lawsuit filed by Giuffre under New York’s Child Victims Act claims the Duke of York engaged in sexual acts without her consent, despite knowing how old she was and “that she was a sex-trafficking victim”.

In addition, Giuffre, now 38 years old, asserts that the Duke’s “extreme and outrageous conduct” continues to inflict “significant emotional and psychological distress and harm” on her.

Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for the Duke of York issued a standard “no comment” response to the case.

For his part, Prince Andrew has consistently denied ever meeting Giuffre, let alone sexually assaulting her.

However, there is a photo that clearly shows the pair standing next to each other with the Prince wrapping his arm around Giuffre, who was then only 17 years old.

Adding to the Prince’s troubles, Ghislaine Maxwell’s brother, Ian, has confirmed the photo was taken at his sister’s London residence.
