Floyd murder trial

A respiratory doctor has testified on the 9th day of the trial over George Floyd’s death, saying the African-American died from a lack of oxygen. Martin Tobin told a court session that Floyd’s breathing was weakened and that caused his heart to stop. He dismissed defense claims that pre-existing medical conditions may have contributed to Floyd’s death. Tobin added that even after Floyd stopped breathing, white former US police officer Derek Chauvin continued to pin him down on the street. Chauvin has pleaded not guilty to murder and manslaughter charges. His defense team has argued that he did only what he was trained to do in his 19 years as a police officer. 46-year-old Floyd’s death sparked massive protests against police brutality and racial injustice in the US.
