Former CIA counter-terrorism officer, John Kiriakou, tells Press TV that militia supporters of ex-US president Donald Trump are a “real threat” to the stability of Washington, and that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is rightly concerned about the dangers posed by such right-wing groups to the safety of Americans.

The US has beefed up security around the Capitol building in Washington, D.C. amid a police warning of a possible militia attack on the Congress building, which prompted the House of Representatives to cancel its session on Thursday.

The Capitol compound remains surrounded with temporary fencing topped with razor wire. Some 5,000 national guard troops also remain on site and around the city.
