Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards on Thursday (August 27) asked residents in three southwestern communities to stay indoors with windows and doors shut as a plume of smoke rose from a chemical fire at a Biolab plant in an area hit by Hurricane Laura.

The hurricane Laura ripped through towns in Louisiana and Texas and killed four people who were crushed by falling trees, yet the damage Laura has inflicted so far is less than what forecasters predicted.
