Muslim youth leadership

This episode is a brief section of Dr. Ayman Hammous’s speech at the Muslim American Society and the Islamic Circle of North America 18th Annual Convention in Chicago in December 2019.

Dr. Ayman asks: “Do you really want to know that your masjid or organisation is a successful one? Look at how many young people they have in the community, and look at how many young people they have in their board. This is one measure that you can understand the success of that community. Because the community of prophet (PBUH) was a community of old and young but the young people played the major role in it.” He emphasises that we need to train our young people to lead us. Young people are not the future leaders of our community but the present and current leaders of this community. We need to allow them to lead, take risks, make mistakes, this is what Prophet (PBUH) did.

We need to make platform for young people to serve and to lead. We spend money on relief, on feeding people, great mission but we also need to invest our money to build the new generation of Imams, the new generation of spiritual leaders, the new generation of community organisers, the new generation of politicians.
