Saudi Women’s prison

Since the rise of Mohammed Bin Salman, the Saudi kingdom has passed, with much fanfare, a handful of reforms for women, promising them a breath of fresh air in the stifling male-dominant atmosphere. While Riyadh is taking great pride in granting driving licenses to its female citizens, a largely forgotten group of Saudi women are withering away in facilities called "Dar Alreaya", an Arabic term meaning “Care Home”. The facilities, prisons in all but name, hold young women who enrage their male "guardians", most of the time their fathers. This episode of Under Reported will try to show what life looks like in these low-profile centers.
