Spanish firm accused of spying on Julian Assange's family

A witness’s sworn statement to the Madrid court proves Spanish firm UC Global has hundreds of hours of footage showing Julian Assange’s infant son.

The court also heard that the firm ordered his diaper nappy to be stolen so DNA tests could be carried out on his feces. Then a plan was hatched to snatch his pacifier to the same ends. This was when one of the security firm’s employees decided to warn Assange’s finance her son was in danger.

Assange’s legal team says the evidence proves UC Global helped the US record his intimate life inside the embassy. That surveillance included audio recordings of his private legal discussions.

Washington has hounded WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange ever since he leaked hundreds of thousands of secret US military and diplomatic documents in 2010 revealing war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan including the unreported killing of Iraqi civilians.

After almost seven years in the Ecuadorian Embassy Assange is now holed up in London’s Belmarsh prison serving 50 weeks for violating his bail conditions and awaiting an extradition hearing on behalf of the United States. Earlier this month his fiancée spoke out for the first time.

The UK’s involvement has been to its detriment. Britain has now fallen to 35th position in the latest World Press Freedom Index from Reporters Without Borders, one reason being it’s treatment of Assange.

The United Nations special reporter on torture has warned Assange's health is so bad that his life is "now in danger" and although coronavirus is ripping through British prisons calls for his release have fallen on deaf ears.
