Iran Mall is the name of one of the world's largest commercial and recreational complexes. Now, in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, the Tehran-based mall has not only closed its doors to promote social distancing, but has also turned into a huge medical center for corona patients.

Following the outbreak of the coronavirus, the mall has changed its services from recreation to medication.

As the coronavirus continues to sweep Iran, many businesses and commercial centers have suspended their activities, with Iran Mall going one step further by turning into a medical center.

Authorities of the privately owned mall say at a time when the virus is depleting Iran's medical resources, everyone should step in and offer help.

The luxurious mall is now equipped with 3,000 beds, offering all kinds of services to corona patients.

Official statistics put the number of infected individuals in Iran at over 20,000. Over 1500 people have died so far.

Authorities at Iran Mall hope that their move would encourage other private sector entities to also pitch in for curbing the novel outbreak.

Serving as a hotspot for recreation, Iran Mall is for now a huge medical center for corona patients until further notice.
