Sanders tweets photo of Trump, Bloomberg golfing

Mike Bloomberg (L) is seen golfing with Donald Trump in an old photo tweeted by Senator Bernie Sanders on February 17, 2020.

US Senator Bernie Sanders has tweeted a photo, showing former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg golfing with President Donald Trump.

The 2020 Democratic front-runner’s tweet on Monday was in reaction to Bloomberg’s presidential campaign, calling Trump “Bernie’s new bro.”

Bloomberg campaign manager Kevin Sheekey had accused Sanders and Trump of “deploy[ing] the very same attacks and tactics against Mike,” ahead of the 2020 presidential election.

Sanders campaign deputy director of communications Sarah Ford said in a statement to The Hill that he “is building a multi-racial, multi-ethnic, multi-generational movement for justice. We recognize that our opponents in the establishment would like to perpetuate a false myth to discount the breadth and diversity of our supporters — and we categorically reject it."

Sanders has repeatedly attacked millionaires and billionaires in the US during his 2016 and the ongoing 2020 campaign.

"As the senator has said loudly and clearly, there is no room in the political revolution for abuse and harassment online, and we must live our values of love and compassion,” Ford added.

The photo was released as rivalry was stepping up between the Vermont senator and the former New York mayor in the run-up to the November vote.

“I’ve got news for Mr. Bloomberg, and that is the American people are sick and tired of billionaires buying elections,” Sanders said in Nevada Sunday.
