Delhi Muslims say 2020 elections overtly communal

In this densely populated part of New Delhi, the public opinion is quite clear. They say this election will decide if the people want development or division based on religion.
For most of the Muslim descendants here better roads, schools, hospitals, water, and electricity are the most crucial issues for elections.
As the Delhi legislative elections are due on February 8, three key political parties of the BJP, the AAP and the congress party, are competing to gain control over the capital city. The election campaigns and road shows are in full swing.
Many people I spoke with believe the ruling BJP has been playing communal politics and dividing people on the basis of religion; the AAP they say has delivered on it promises to some extent while the congress faces lack of leadership and has a battle for survival.
In recent days some members of the ruling BJP were barred for making hate speeches during public rallies which many believe was aimed at targeting the Muslim community in particular therefore polarizing voters on the basis of religion. People say there is a sense of fear among Muslims since the emergence of Hindu Nationalist government in 2014.
Muslims constitute a sizeable population in New Delhi and their votes are considered crucial especially for the common man party and the congress party.
In 2015 the common man party won with an absolute majority. Now the party is eyeing a second term on the basis of its good governance track record over the last tenure particularly in education and health sectors.
