US President Donald Trump has lashed out at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi amid her visit to Jordan over the situation in northern Syria.

"Pelosi is now leading a delegation of 9, including Corrupt Adam Schiff, to Jordan to check out Syria. She should find out why Obama drew The Red Line In the Sand, & then did NOTHING, losing Syria & all respect. I did something, 58 missiles. One million died under Obama’s mistake!" Trump tweeted Sunday.

He was citing false claims that the Syrian government had used chemical weapons and that President Barack Obama had vowed to use military force in response.

Pelosi and a group of US lawmakers arrived in Jordan for talks with Jordanian King Abdullah II earlier in the day.

"With the deepening crisis in Syria after Turkey's incursion, our delegation has engaged in vital discussions about the impact to regional stability, increased flow of refugees, and the dangerous opening that has been provided to ISIS, Iran and Russia," Pelosi claimed in a statement.

The Republican leadership joined Democrats this week to condemn Trump's decision to pull US forces out of northeastern Syria, consequently invaded by Turkey in an attempt to destroy or drive off Kurdish militant groups.

The president is frequently attacking Pelosi over her role in the impeachment inquiry underway in the House over the Ukraine scandal.
