A memorable day for Iran's football; Iran's Team Melli thrashed the visiting Cambodian side 14-nil in Group C of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers at Tehran's Azadi Stadium with thousands of Iranian women showing up to watch the match.
As expected, the match on Thursday proved a one-sided one.
The home team scored 7 goals either side of half-time, with the first goal coming as early as the 5th minute.
Cambodia had their best chance to score when they were awarded a penalty after Keo Sokpheng was brought down in the box by Alireza Beiranvand one minute into the second half.
But the Iranian keeper dashed their hope and kept a clean sheet.
Happiness fills the air as these spectators celebrate Iran's win.
Group C has Iran, Iraq, Cambodia, Hong Kong and Bahrain on board, with Iran sitting on top of the table on 6 points.
With a 2-0 triumph over Hong Kong last month, this is the second straight win for Iran, getting Team Melli closer to qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
Up next for Iran are Bahrain away on Tuesday while Cambodia will be hoping for better luck at their home against Iraq.
