EU expresses concern over US, Iran tensions

With respect to Saturday's attacks on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia, the official position of the European Union is to wait and see before apportioning blame.

Yemen's Houthi fighters have claimed responsibility. The attacks knocked out more than half of Saudi's oil production. Trump says it appears Iran is responsible. Tehran says he's lying.

Activists say the attacks would not have happened if the Saudi regime wasn't bombing Yemen and killing innocent civilians.

Germany's Angela Merkel says the only way to defuse tensions is for Washington to rejoin the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. Analysts say Pompeo, Saudi Arabia and Israel want war with Iran. One expert has told us Trump does not, and it's imperative for the EU to save the Iran nuclear deal.

When it comes to Iran, political commentators say the European Union has a much more nuanced approach than that of the United Sates, suggesting this is wise given that the Islamic Republic has made it clear it does not respond well to threats and disrespect.
