American auto giant General Motors has seen one of the largest industrial action in more than a decade.

Nearly 50-thousand employees from 31 plants have gone on strike over a pay dispute. The walk out followed an impasse in talks between America’s biggest car maker and the United Auto Workers Union, which represents the employees. The two sides have been negotiating a new deal that concerns the manufacturer's four-year contract with its workers.
