Iran, Russia, Turkey hold 5th summit on Syria

The presidents of Turkey, Iran, and Russia held their 5th trilateral summit in the Turkish capital Ankara to discuss a political resolution to Syria’s eight-year conflict.
The three presidents held a meeting followed by a joint presser where Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan highlighted the importance of the summit within the framework of the Astana peace process for Syria.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani also stressed the importance of a political solution to the Syrian conflict.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also called on all countries to support and help the political solution.
On the sidelines of the summit the Turkish president held bilateral meetings with his Iranian and Russian counterparts where they discussed cooperation on regional and international issues.
Iran, Russia, and Turkey have once again stressed the importance of fighting terrorism in Syria and protecting the country’s integrity as they pressed ahead with their attempts to find a political solution to the 8-year conflict.
