‘LameStream Media working with their partner, the Dems’: Trump

US President Donald Trump has said “the LameStream Media working with their partner, the Dems,” after the New York Times issued a correction to a report about a sexual assault allegation against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

The New York Times reported on Saturday night that Kavanaugh was engaged in a sexual misconduct at a party against a woman without her consent.

On Monday, the newspaper released a correction that noted that the friends of the woman allegedly involved in the incident with Kavanaugh during law school said she did not recall the incident. The Times said that “the female student declined to be interviewed and friends say that she does not recall the incident.”

 In a trio of tweets on Monday, Trump lashed out at the mainstream media over the reports.

“’The New York Times walks back report on Kavanaugh assault claim’” Trump tweeted, quoting “Fox and Friends.”

“The one who is actually being assaulted is Justice Kavanaugh - Assaulted by lies and Fake News! This is all about the LameStream Media working with their partner, the Dems,” he said.

Following the Times report, a number of Democratic presidential candidates called for the impeachment of Kavanaugh. Senator Elizabeth Warren said Kavanaugh “should be impeached” just like President Trump.

In a pair of follow up tweets on Monday, Trump again quoted “Fox and Friends,” claiming that “Kavanaugh accuser doesn’t recall incident” while adding that the Times “should be sued.”

“DO YOU BELIEVE WHAT THESE HORRIBLE PEOPLE WILL DO OR SAY,” Trump continued. “They are looking to destroy, and influence his opinions - but played the game badly. They should be sued!”

Trump on Sunday said "Radical left Democrats" and the "LameStream Media" want to scare Kavanaugh into "turning Liberal."

He added that "Brett Kavanaugh should start suing people for libel, or the Justice Department should come to his rescue."

Commenting on the Kavanaugh issue, American journalist and political commentator Don DeBar said, “What's cute is what no one's talking about. The media and politicians discuss the differences between Democrats and Republicans choosing Supreme Court Justices as if they rested solely on policy for such things as abortion rights. In reality, you're talking about choosing the members of the highest court in the land, atop a court system that adjudicates perhaps trillions of dollars annually. What is most likely is that the real wrangling is over outcomes of big-money litigation. But no one ever discusses that.”

“The Democrats now, by raising the possibility of removing Kavanaugh after his appointment, appear to be trying to run the government from the House of Representatives, despite all of the alleged protections afforded by the separation of powers. With both the president and his appointees to the Supreme Court in the sights of their guns, the Democratic members of Congress appear to be mounting a coup that is clearly unconstitutional if nothing else,” he stated.
