Hezbollah’s Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah stresses that Lebanon has the right to defend itself from Israel’s aggression:

Speaking at the Ashura processions in the capital Beirut, the leader of the Lebanese resistance called on the Lebanese government and institutions to protect the Lebanese financially in light of the US economic sanctions on Hezbollah.
He said Hezbollah will always stand against US hegemony in Lebanon and the region.

Nasrallah said Washington’s unjust practices are the result of its failure in the Middle East. He also referred to the Saudi-led conflict in Yemen. He said Riyadh and its allies are seeking to disintegrate Yemen to seize its resources and occupy its ports.

Although Ashura is mainly an occasion of remembrance of the third Shia Imam who was martyred with his family and companions after refusing to pledge allegiance to Yazid, the tyrant at the time, it is also seen by many in Lebanon and the world as a message to humanity:

“Hezbollah’s statement this Ashura is that US-Israeli threats and sanctions against the resistance in Lebanon and the alliance as a whole has only given it more power. This, they believe, is one of the results of the battle of Karbala.”
