Vuelta a Espana: Gilbert wins stage 17
Over cycling news, where Philippe Gilbert of Belgium has grabbed the stage 17 of the Vuelta a Espana, while Primoz Roglic retained his red jersey in the tournament.
The Belgian powered to his 2nd stage win at this year’s La Vuelta, after clocking 4 hours and 20 minutes. Meanwhile, Colombian Nairo Quintana spent the whole of stage 17 at the front, and moved to 2nd in the overall standings, behind Primoz Roglic, who crossed the finish line more than 5 minutes behind Quintana.
Despite losing time, Roglic will carry a 2 minute and 24 second lead over the Columbian, into the 177.5 kilometer mountainous stage 18 on Thursday.
