An American author says the United States is not an honest broker of peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians, adding that Washington's highly controversial deal aimed at ending the Middle East conflict is not more than "a joke."

Richard Becker, made the remarks on Press TV’s The Debate program on Friday.

He said US President Donald Trump, his son-in-law Jared Kushner, Middle East envoy Jason Greenblatt and US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman are the architects of Washington’s so-called peace plan —dubbed the “deal of the century” —  which "has been deferred over and over ... and become somewhat of a joke in fact."

Actually, he added, the quartet are "real estate entrepreneurs" and "business people" who think that "if you can offer people some business deals they'll give up their national aspirations."

The San Francisco-based expert also noted that Washington's initiative is a no-cost plan from the US point of view as it is funded by oil-rich Arab monarchies.

The idea is to "buy off some of the Palestinian at the top ... and then they'll  give up their claims for a land they are mostly dispossessed from. This is such a ridiculous conception that can only be contributed to real estate barons intruding into world political affairs and thinking they have all the answers," he said.

The United states, he emphasized, has acted as "the prime funder and protector in international affairs" of the Tel Aviv regime.

"The United States has never been an honest broker in the talks between the Palestinians and the Israelis," the author said. "It has given hundreds of billions of dollars in military and economic aid to one side and now has completely cut off even humanitarian aid to the Palestinians ... recognizing Jerusalem al-Quds as the [Israeli] 'capital,' recognizing Israel's conquest of the Golan Heights and really endorsing every step that Israel has taken against the Palestinians."

Becker further pointed out that the US strategy is "to bribe a thin layer at the top of Palestinian society" with the money which is supposed to come from the oil-rich Arab monarchies.

Persian Gulf Arab states' "priority is to cultivate the relationship with Trump and so appear to be supporting the plan," he said.

"Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain and Kuwait are family monarchies in the 21st century, where there is no democratic rights at all and they want to extinguish all popular movements in the whole Middle East region," he noted.

The expert stressed that the Palestinians should be "compensated for what was stolen from them ... in 1948 and afterwards which was recognized by the United Nations."

He also said that the Israelis are not seeking peace with the Palestinians, but more land theft.

"The Israelis are to absorb more and more territory, to pretend for the sake of the US public opinion that they want peace and can't find a partner for peace ... , but the reality is that they don't want peace they want another piece of Palestinian land and then another piece and intend to annex all or most of the West Bank," he said.

That US plan on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict — which is widely reported to be biased towards the Tel Aviv regime — has already been unanimously rejected by all Palestinian factions, including Hamas and the Palestinian Authority.

The US unveiled the economic potion of its initiative during a conference in Bahrain on June 25-26 despite a Palestinian boycott.

Palestinians stopped recognizing the US as a mediator in the conflict with the Tel Aviv regime in 2017, after US President Donald Trump recognized occupied Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s “capital” in defiance of international law.
