World Rally Championship leader Ott Tanak is on track for a third consecutive win at the Rally of Germany, after beating his title rivals on the first stage of the race, to lead overnight.
Toyota's Tanak, who has been victorious in three of the last four rounds, set a time of two minutes 39.4 seconds to take the 5.2 kilometer sprint on Thursday.
The Estonian is bidding to end Sebastien Ogier's 6-year grip on the world title, and become the first non-French champion since 2003.
Meanwhile, Dani Sordo posted the second fastest time in Germany for Hyundai, with Ogier, who had edged Tanak in the shakedown, finishing third.
Tanak currently holds a 22-point lead over Ogier at the top of the championship standings with five rounds left in the season.
Thierry Neuville of Belgium is a further three points off the pace in third.
