Winston-Salem Open: Shapovalov tops Kecmanovic

Over tennis news, Denis Shapovalov of Canada has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Winston-Salem Open after defeating Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic 2 sets to love.

The 20-year old Canadian was in full control in the opening set and easily finished it 6-2. The young Serbian didn't have enough power to control the match in the 2nd set and Shapovalov managed to maintain his dominance to take the set 6-3. With the victory, Shapovalov will meet Russian Andrey Rublev who defeated the American Sam Querry in straight sets.

Meanwhile, Steve Johnson of the US has sealed a spot in the quarterfinals of the tournament after defeating Norwegian Casper Ruud in straight sets. The American needed an hour and 48 minutes to finish the match with a 6-2 and 7-6 results to meet John Millman of Australia in the next round.
