With Britain’s deadline to leave the EU approaching, come October 31st, one of the most contentious issues surrounding a possible no-deal Brexit, which seems a likely scenario under Prime Minister Boris Johnson, is the issue of freedom of movement for EU citizens living in the UK.

There are over three million EU citizens currently living in Britain and reports now seem to indicate that UK Home Secretary Priti Patel is likely to set new border restrictions immediately upon the 31st of October, should the UK leave without a deal.

With the possible negative consequences coming the way of EU nationals come the Brexit deadline, we have come to the streets of London to get the opinions of people here, to see what they are saying and thinking on this issue.

A source from the Home Office also reportedly told The Times that under a no-deal Brexit, freedom of movement would come to an end on the 31st of October, further adding to the anxiety amongst EU citizens.

The three million citizens group, which represents the rights of EU nationals, has warned that if the country goes through a no-deal Brexit, there should be concerns of another Windrush; a scandal that has seen the deportation and deprivation of rights which were supposed to be secured by the government, another one of the Home Office’s disasters.

With the possibility of a no-deal Brexit, many questions are still unanswered as to what exactly will be the fate of EU nationals in the UK, rightly stirring anxiety in many of those who could be effected by a UK government that is yet to demonstrate its ability to handle such problems.
