Border tension escalates between India, Pakistan after Kashmir stripped of autonomy

It is hard to find anyone other than Indian military and paramilitary forces on the streets of the disputed region of Kashmir. During the two-week-long unprecedented curfew, Indian security forces have launched an extensive search operation.
They have arrested thousands of youngsters from the disputed territory to prevent a widespread agitation over New Delhi’s controversial and shock decision to strip its part of Kashmir of its autonomy.
International media reports say jails in Kashmir have run out of their capacity and therefore, thousands youngsters were being shifted in other prison centers outside the disputed region.
Indian-controlled Kashmir remains disconnected from the rest of the world with all communication links blocked after New Delhi deployed nearly 900,000 military and paramilitary forces to keep people indoor with no food supplies since early August.
Border tension between Pakistan and India has also escalated since the clampdown was launched in disputed Kashmir region.
Under numerous UN Security council resolutions, India must hold a plebiscite to let Kashmiri people decide on whether they want to stay with India or join Pakistan.
However, unlike Islamabad, New Delhi has refused to implement UN Security Council resolutions, saying Kashmir is its internal matter something at the core of decade-long dispute between the two nuclear armed neighbors.
