Medvedev beats Goffin in Cincinnati to claim Maiden Masters 1000 title

Daniil Medvedev has lifted his 1st Masters 1000 trophy after defeating David Goffin of Belgium in the Cincinnati Masters Final.

It was a close contest and both players performed well, but it was the Russian, who got the upper hand and took the opening set 7-6. The World Number 8 kept his strong position and won the 2nd set 6-4 to wrap up the match in 1 hour and 40 minutes. With the victory, Medvedev qualified for the ATP Finals tournament, which is held annually each November in London at the O2 Arena. Meanwhile, he will be the 1st Russian to feature in the Top 5 since Nikolay Davydenko in 2010.
