US President Donald Trump triggered a major controversy this week, by provoking the Israeli regime to bar the first two Muslim women elected to Congress from travelling to the occupied Palestinian territories.
Representatives Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan had planned to visit Jerusalem al-Quds, Bethlehem, Ramallah and al-Khalil also known as Hebron. They were scheduled to meet with Israeli and Palestinian rights activists.
Congresswoman Omar who was born in Somalia and Tlaib who is of Palestinian descent, are supporters of the increasingly popular Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement for Palestinian rights.
