Athletic Bilbao 1-0 Barcelona: La Liga opener
Barcelona have made a poor start to the defense of their La Liga title with a 1-0 loss, away at Athletic Bilbao.
The Catalan giants came close to scoring the 1st goal of the new season after 30 minutes of play, as an awful back pass by Unai Lopez fell straight to Luis Suarez, who smashed the ball into the post.
Barca had their next serious chance in the 70th minute, but Ivan Rakitic fired a powerful effort over the crossbar.
Athletic Bilbao, who enjoyed the support of the home crowd, did not back down against the defending champions and finally made the breakthrough with a minute on the clock when substitute Aritz Aduriz unleashed a sensational bicycle kick past Marc ter Stegen to seal the win for the hosts.
