Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad have made it to the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League after beating Zob Ahan of Iran 4-3 in the 2nd leg of their Last 16 tie in Doha.
The Saudi club, who won the 1st leg 2-1, made the breakthrough in the 1st half of stoppage time through Emiliano Vecchio.
After the restart, Zob Ahan needed 8 minutes to get the equalizer, but that was short-lived as the Zob Ahan keeper’s huge blunder put the Saudi Side back in the lead.
Al-ittihad pushed their advantage to 3 goals as Romarinho scored 2 quick goals in the 64th and 70th minute.
Zob Ahan cut the deficit to 2 goals in the 72nd minute through Hadi Mohammadi, while bagging their 3rd with 7 minutes on the clock, however it was too little, too late for the Iranian club to overhaul the final outcome as Al-Ittihad sealed their spot in the last 8.
They will face either Al Hilal or Al Ahli, both from Saudi Arabia.
