London residents said on Tuesday they were "horrified" after Boris Johnson won the leadership for the Conservative Party, replacing Theresa May as prime minister.
A Brexiteer, Johnson has promised to lead Britain out of the European Union with or without a deal by Halloween.
Some local residents drew comparisons with US President Donald Trump, expressing little hope he would be able to renegotiate a new deal with the EU.
His victory catapults the United Kingdom towards a Brexit showdown with the EU and towards a constitutional crisis at home, as British lawmakers have vowed to bring down any government that tries to leave the bloc without a divorce deal.
